The Ballet Shop was established in 2000, more as an experiment than anything else. Within a year or so, the website was set up, in a rather different format to this one, and we have never looked back!.

The Ballet Shop was founded by Geraldine Spiteri. after having successfully imported some dancewear items into Malta, and became Malta's first online dancewear store. Thanks to the support of customers and suppliers alike, The Ballet Shop has grown sufficiently to be able to cater for most dance gear requirements, and also offers wholesale services to other dancewear shops, to schools and to companies..

The Ballet Shop is inspired by dance. Since Geraldine Spiteri has danced ballet and other forms of dance since the age of three, The Ballet Shop is driven by the motivation and understanding of a person who is familiar with a dancer's needs.

The Ballet Shop is not only an online dancewear store but can provide personalised requirements to persons in Malta. We love to be able to help, and we are ready to attend schools and rehearsal places to fit the students or dancers with the shoes or dancewear they require. We give dance teachers a special discount on their own dancewear (and that of their children, if any) and we make sure that dance companies purchasing in bulk receive wholesale prices, in order to make their dance more affordable. We believe that our prices should encourage you to dance, and we strive to give you the best customer service possible. We also have a small shop at College of Jazz Dance, in San Gwann, where we are open to persons from all other schools and try to provide you with all the items you need. Indeed, what we don't have, we will strive our best to supply for you.

The idea of going online was the inspiration of Owen and Camille Cutajar, of The Only Network, and our store was one of a group of similar stores on The Only Network. Gradually, business has increased sufficiently to require that we provide you with this new site, to make ordering easier and to allow you some additional features which we were unable to before.
