I recall, many years ago, it was approaching the end of term that I was discussing the cost of pointe shoes then and my then-partner said: “Why don’t you try importing your own?”
This was before ebay, or any other form of market place, and internet sales (websites) had not even been thought of.
So I started looking around, and sending enquiries, until I got a response from Sansha. My ballet teacher at the time, Nina Winter (Zammit) suggested that Sansha pointe shoes were the best ever, and Mary Jane Bellia, then a renowned ballet school principal, swore by them. I was hooked!
Within a couple of years, my friend Owen Cutajar, creator of The Joke Shop and The Only Network, suggested that we build a website to sell my merchandise online. I never looked back.
Sales have been up and down, due to the high postage costs for goods being sold from Malta, but we’ve always managed to service the Malta sector – and to some extent, the foreign one whenever there was a demand. Sometimes we had to decline orders that were too hefty (postage-wise) but we’ve done our best, and will continue to do so. We’ve tried and tested new pointe shoe models, fancy leotards, innovative sneakers and show shoes… the lot! We’ve also sourced other brands.
Six years ago, we threw a party to celebrate our 15th year... and last year we missed our 20th anniversary, but here we are with some incredible discounts for our 21st.
